Shipping

After successfully sourcing and storing your products comes the shipping process. Before sending them to be shipped to your country, we check your products again and make sure that they are well packaged.

Jtahed has a number of internationally recognized overseas shipping partners. We can find all the shipping options that meet your needs. There are two main methods to get your products transported to your country: Sea shipping and Air shipping.

Shipping by air is usually more expensive than shipping by sea. Sometimes the cost can be several times more expensive. Air shipping is priced based on weight and volume, so heavier loads will cost more. But air shipping is much faster than sea shipping Sea shipping is usually the cheaper option of the two. Generally, there are 20-foot or 40-foot containers. If your shipment is smaller than that, you are charged by the volume of the shipment. The prices for the containers fluctuate.  The larger containers are usually a little bit of a discount per size of the shipment. Weight is usually not considered a factor since huge shipping vessels can not be easily weighed down in the ocean.

The Main Types of Containers

Dry Storage Container

Dry storage containers are the most common containers used in shipping. They come in lengths of 20, 40 and 45 feet, and they are made to transport dry goods. This is to say that these containers do not allow for temperature controls, so they are not suited for moving food or chemicals that require refrigeration.

Refrigerated ISO Containers

A Refrigerated Container is a shipping container installed with a cooling unit to keep goods at a regulated temperature. Refrigerated Containers often referred to as Reefer Containers are designed to store or transport perishable goods.

Flat rack container

A flat rack container has no top and only two sides. This makes room for heavy loads to be set the rack from above or from the side. Flat rack containers are used for the transportation of cargo with ‘special’ dimensions.

Special Purpose Containers

Special purpose containers are designed in any shape or dimension. They are used to transport items that require a custom container to be made for them. Most shipping companies avoid the use of special purpose containers as much as possible because they are costly to create and transport. However, they are necessary for certain loads.

FCL and LCL

Another important thing to bear in mind is that there are FCLs and LCLs. A Full Container Load (FCL) shipment is used when a shipper bears the cost of the entire container and uses it exclusively for a single shipment. On the other hand, a Less than Container Load (LCL) shipment means shippers share the containers with other shipments and only need to pay for the space used.
